What is Wig Wednesday?
When kids go through cancer treatment, they often face the world without hair. Wig Wednesday is all about showing them they’re not alone. By wearing a wig, whether wild, wacky, or wonderful, people across New Zealand stand together in solidarity, raising awareness and funds for families impacted by childhood cancer.
About the Child Cancer Foundation
The Child Cancer Foundation is an independent charity that has been supporting Kiwi families for more than 40 years. They receive no direct government funding, relying instead on donations and community support.
Their services include:
- Family Support Coordinators who provide personalised, practical, and emotional support.
- Financial assistance to help with everyday living costs when treatment disrupts work and income.
- Holiday homes and community events that give families a chance to connect and recharge.
- Bereavement support for families facing the unimaginable loss of a child.
Everything they do is free of charge, ensuring that no family walks this journey alone.
